New Faces of SteelCloud: The Secret Sauce Behind SteelCloud’s Exceptional Workplace Culture
In just the past three years or so, SteelCloud’s employee list has more than doubled. Maybe it’s because employees live lavish lifestyles—private planes, catered meals by Gordon Ramsey, gulf-front condos in Dubai, and domesticated tigers serving as emotional support animals. No? Then it must be because SteelCloud offers something even rarer—a great place to work.
SteelCloud has a unique perspective on what makes an employee a great employee. While many are, of course, hired for their depth of professional experience in coding, support, quality assurance and more, others are hired based on their workplace traits alone—attention to detail, a passion for problem solving, abstract thinking ability, people skills, collaborative skills—and trained to match their position. This happens in both entry-level and mid-management and is proving to be SteelCloud’s secret sauce for strength, growth, and industry innovation.
We’ve just completed four weeks of profiles looking at some of the employees that have joined SteelCloud in the past few years. And today we are meeting some of our newest employees. There is one question we asked them that they all answered the same, though.
Rather than be repetitive, SteelCloud employees love the company’s supportive, family-like culture. Everyone is on the same team and their ideas are valued. After talking to perhaps half the staff, that point comes up time and time again. There is something special that everyone recognizes and that results in collaboration, mentorship, novel ideas, excellent service, a shared mission to protect sensitive data, and…family. Here’s what else our newest family members love about their jobs.
Josh Utermohle, Sales Engineer
“Being a part of something that is growing and helping sell a product that I believe in.”
Sara Gross, Data Quality Assurance Specialist
“Learning how to make keys for the customers and sending out swag to our customers.”
Edward McHam, Technical Writer
“Using technologies such as Confluence, GitHub, JIRA, Visio, and Word to document workflows for colleagues and provide high-quality user guides for our customers. Where possible, I also like to find ways to automate the documentation, thereby providing timely and accurate data to various departments. It’s a natural fit for a company whose flagship product automates a huge mission-critical process like STIG compliance. I’m always a big fan of automating tasks and making life easier for the team!”
Terry White, Implementation Specialist
“Working with my team. They are super smart and really good people.”
Issa Hazou, Quality Assurance Analyst
“Finding bugs.” (Rest assured, they are software bugs.)
John Bonilla Suarez, Senior Software Developer
“Creating a product that is not only fast at scanning, but also remediates. Most other solutions only diagnose, but not correct.”
Luke Wilson, Developer
“Learning how technologically progressive the team is! Management is super flexible with how we approach problems which leads us to modern and creative solutions.”
Vineet Jindal, Senior Software Developer
“Taking part in the collaborative environment. The company fosters a culture of teamwork and knowledge sharing, which allows me to learn from experienced colleagues and continuously improve my skills. Everyone is genuinely willing to support and help each other grow.”
Joseph Osborne, Senior Linux Engineer
“Seeing how uniquely Command Center and the SteelCloud signature can be tailored for individual customer environments. I also love the challenge of continuously working to improve the baseline coverage of our content pushing closer to 100% wherever possible.”
Jeremy Rocke, Senior Software Engineer
“Working with Quality Assurance to rapidly iterate and improve upon designs. And I also love that we sponsor service dogs for veterans.”
