How to Use Automated Endpoint Grouping
To configure the infrastructure path where an endpoint is deployed during installation of Shield, use these instructions below. Information can also be found in our product documentation. For bulk deployment of the Shield product the installer has command line arguments for setting the Infrastructure Group Path. Comment below if you’d like to know more about bulk Shield deployment.
Using the Installer interface on the endpoint:
- Navigate to the Shield Group Path screen.
- Specify the desired group path for newly registered endpoints.
- Separate each group level using a forward slash (/).
For example:
- Production/Windows/Servers
- Development/Linux/Ubuntu
If the specified group path does not exist, the Shield automatically creates it during endpoint registration.
If no group path is specified, the endpoint is automatically registered under a root group labeled Newly Discovered Endpoints and then organized by the Shields operating system.
When Automated Endpoint Grouping is used together with Access Profiles, organizations gain additional visibility controls that help reduce management complexity across large environments.
